MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An out-of-control SUV, driving backwards, slammed into a bus stop Monday evening, killing a woman sitting at the stop.
Terrance Beauchamp Weaver rushed to what was left at the bus shelter at 45th and Lyndale to reach his mother who had been sitting inside.
But it was too late.
Terrance said his mother, 45-year-old Billy Weaver, ate at McDonald’s and was then waiting at the bus stop for him to pick her up when an SUV slammed into the shelter.
“My mom was a good person, and she didn’t deserve to die, and the people that ran her over are responsible for her death,” he said.
Witnesses of the crash say the woman driving the SUV that hit the shelter was backing out of the McDonald’s parking lot.
She accelerated, hit a parked car, careened off a tree and then crashed into the bus shelter.
