Texas Cops Arrest Suspect In Minnesota Bank Robbery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Less than 24 hours after a man robbed a bank in Minnesota’s Steele County, police arrested a suspect in Texas after a 40-mile car chase.

Alfredo Frias Alvarez, 39, of Waseca, was found with “a large amount of currency” that matched the money missing from The First Bank of Hope, according to Steele County Sheriff Lon Thiele.

Around 8:30 a.m. Friday, a man pointed a gun at a teller in Hope, a small town near Owatonna, Minnesota.

The robber fled with stolen cash in a black vehicle.

Police issued an “attempt to locate” for Alvarez’s car, a Dodge Charger, that he was seen driving near the scene of the robbery.

At around 12:30 a.m. early Saturday morning, the Oklahoma State Patrol identified Alvarez’s license plate.

After a 40-mile chase into the state of Texas at speeds reaching close to 150 miles per hour, the Texas State Patrol deployed stop sticks and arrested Alvarez.
